Kristian Smith presented 'PASSENGERS' in 2018, a solo exhibition of new work as part of centenary celebrations for Muriel Spark, one of Scotland's most internationally respected writers.
An installation of new work in photography, painting, sculpture and collage, 'PASSENGERS' reflected diverse themes relating to the life and work of Muriel Spark, from the writer's literary influences and views on ecology to Catholicism and her close personal relationships.
An artist text, Get up Shelley, the sea is flooding the house and it is all coming down accompanied the exhibition.
The only visual arts recipient of a Muriel Spark 100: Endless Different Ways Award, Kristian Smith undertook an artist residency in Italy to make new work and develop the show which was presented in the gallery of the historic Custom House in Leith, Edinburgh.
